So you're thinking of investing in a new bathroom - well you've come to the right place. Here at Halmshaws we're bathroom & shower room experts, with more than 40 years experience.

With advancements in technology over the past decades, the way we bathe and style our bathrooms has changed dramatically. With the bathroom being such an integral part of your home, it's important it reflects your personal style and preferences.

Start with the suite

The most defining feature of your new bathroom is the suite, and this will help set the tone in both modern and traditional bathrooms. Here at Halmshaws we have a wide range of both traditional and contemporary bathroom suites on display in our Beverley and Hull showrooms.

Once you have decided on the suite you can build on this with other features such as lighting and colour, which will help complete your new bathroom's atmosphere.

Traditional bathroom suites

Design features of traditional bathrooms include slipper baths, basin pedestals and cross-head taps, along with chain flush toilets.

As for colours, white is the most traditional colour, but you'll often find this coupled with light and dark grain wood finishes, and even soft pastel shades.

Modern bathroom suites

With modern bathrooms, there are no hard and fast rules. You'll find a more modern and edgier appearance thanks to angular and unconventional shapes.

Pedestal basins with cross-head taps are swapped for waterfall or mixer taps with modern basin styles, which can be wall-mounted or countertop. In modern bathrooms, sinks are a key focal point.

Corner baths and showers are another defining feature of modern bathrooms, and whilst white is still a key colour in terms of the suite itself, stark contrasts or bold, bright accent colours are often used for walls and floors.
